“Chief Justice Roberts' response is significant because he rarely engages in political disputes, yet here he felt compelled to remind the nation that impeachment is not a tool for erasing judicial decisions a president dislikes. But Trump’s reaction—immediately doubling down—shows that this is not just bluster; it’s a test of how far he can push the boundaries of presidential power.”
When Robert’s weighs in, you know Trump must be wrong (he’s always wrong as far as I’m concerned). And this is the same guy who saved Trump’s arse on several occasions; he slow rolled two significant cases, including the documents and J6th cases, which were slam dunks, until it would have gotten to SCOTUS; in which case, all bets are off!
Not to mention, conjuring up a non-existent immunity clause in the Constitution; finally a Republican SCOTUS with an original thought; although it was not only harebrained, but inconsistent with the Constitution and our founders! Yet, here we are!
And ironically, although Trump did double down on his criticism’s and intimidation of judge Boasberg, Trump actually refused to be critical of Roberts. I wonder why?
Perhaps he knows he owes his freedom to the man, and of course, The Federalist Society; where at least five of the SCOTUS Justices get their marching orders. Apparently, Thomas is the odd man out; he’s a wholly owned subsidiary of Harlan Crow Inc: Winnebago, Anyone?
Bottom line: This case is about one thing, and one thing only: Due Process,” which can be found in the Fifth and Fourteenth Amendments; ensuring fairness, and protecting individuals from government actions, that deprive them of life, liberty, or property without following established legal procedures.
And if these people truly are violent gang members, then kick them out, after they receive a fair hearing. However, given Trump and ICE’s track record of sending non-violent, non criminal asylum seekers to Guantanamo, then what is the likelihood that most of the people sent to El Salvador, were actually guilty as charged? Operative word: Charged, they haven’t been, which is the point!
And lastly, I get this issue is also about three co-equal branches of government, and its checks and balances. But who’s fooling who?
There haven’t been three separate and equal branches of government in this country, since Trump took over the Republican Party and rebranded it MAGA Inc., or the MAGA cult, and The Federalist Society was able to stock the judiciary with only fully vetted and partisan judges, who will do its bidding, and the bidding of its sister religious organizations, and the corporations and billionaires who support these organizations.
And if history is a harbinger of things to come, then try to remember how it worked out for the Manson Family, or the cultists; I mean citizens of Jonestown! Just saying….:)
Any time Trump starts a statement with “Many people” it’s the most obvious tell since Pinnochio’s nose. What follows is a lie and a complete figment of his imagination.
I hope one of the responding judges will make an order to assess the president for declining mental health/dementia, as it seems that all "normal" responses are absent in Trump.
Time is getting close. How much will the judges tolerate? They can see what’s going on, as can even the casual observer. Will they turn our powerful judiciary system against the maga W H in defense of the ppl and democracy or will they deliver our country to the vile crew of thugs that have taken govt control ?
Even if 100% of judges (minus Aileen Cannon, of course!) were to “turn our powerful judiciary system against the maga W H” etc., what would be the mechanism of enforcement? Federal Marshals? According to Wikipedia: “The Marshals Service serves as the enforcement and security arm of the U.S. federal judiciary, and it is an agency of the U.S. Department of Justice and operates under the direction of the U.S. attorney general.”
Somehow, I feel US AG Pam Bondi may not cooperate with any enforcement of judicial rulings which are contrary to her mega-MAGA worldview.
the Radical Left Lunatic of a Judge James Boasberg was "Appointed by President George W. Bush" Trump seems to have left this part out. ALSO "On August 22, 2016, Boasberg ordered the release of over 14,000 emails found in the United States Department of State correspondence of Hillary Clinton by the FBI during an investigation of Clinton's private server."
It’s not about the judge and his credentials. It’s about intimidation, fear and compliance. MAGA is going after Coney Barrett for her independent streak; not rubber stamping all of Trump’s harebrained schemes, as well as Roberts, for defending Boasberg.
In the world according to MAGA; fall in line with the agenda 100%, or you need not apply….:)
How can the judiciary sanction WH, agencies and Musk? Roberts has legitimized any unlawful behavior with roots in the WH. Even when Trump puts targets on the judges' backs, Roberts is helpless. This will not end well.
While I understand what and why Roberts spoke up, he no longer has the credibility to carry the water here.
He is defending the court -- because it challenges his authority but has stepped aside and not taken action when other members of the Supreme Court have used an extreme lack of judgment and have clear conflicts of interest. Roberts is included in that list based on the work his wife does and gets paid very well to do and his failure to recuse.
We are in a full-blown Constitutional crisis. (History will likely show it was effectively dead by now.)
Congress has not stepped up to the plate to challenge Trump's overreach. Both parties have been remarkably quiet and ineffective. There goes one branch.
The Judicial Branch at the highest level has allowed itself to become a pawn in the interest of personal gain and power at the highest levels. There is no effort to even act like they truly are beholden to ethical standards. What is left of the judicial branch is being hacksawed away. They have no effective way to stop him. They can rule and request, but in the end -- without the power of Congress -- they are nothing but a bunch of words and paper. Emphasis on "in the end". I don't see people rushing out to defend them either based on the perceived corruption and conflicts of interest. (Why will people rush to defend them when they were complicit in getting to this point based on what appears to be political influence and motivations.)
Why should one Federal Judge in one State of America have stay over a decision of the President of the United States over illegal immigrants who are members of an illegal gang. Bizarre!!!
This case is about due process for the immigrants who were, by law, owed a day in court before being removed from the country. The president simply does not have the constitutional authority to summarily deport people without individualized assessments merely by asserting "national security risk."
Yes. We’re all waiting to see if the judges have OUR backs or TRUMP’S. Can and will the judges want to defend our constitution or this sinister, maga W H?

They are illegal bloody border hoppers and dangerous. He is putting your community at risk.

When someone from the CATO institute sides with the law against their chosen puppet, Trump, you know there’s dissension in right wing land

They don’t have the votes to impeach. They need 2/3 of the senate to vote to impeach, that’s 67 senators
Was it WashPost who wrote in Trump’s 1st reign: Democracy dies in darkness?
It is already dead.
It was! That was before Bezos started drawing all the blackout curtains…
I just heard Trump is fundraising on this Impeachment campaign!!! Why on earth does he need to fundraise and who are those funds going to?
Can Trump be impeached?

Because our framers believed in balancing power between the three branches. You and Trump don’t like that. You would prefer King Trump?
This case is about due process for the immigrants who were, by law, owed a day in court before being removed from the country. The president simply does not have the constitutional authority to summarily deport people without individualized assessments merely by asserting "national security risk."
Is there a modern equivalent of the Divine Right of Kings to be applied to Presidents of the US?
The insanity continues...
Yes. We’re all waiting to see if the judges have OUR backs or TRUMP’S. Can and will the judges want to defend our constitution or this sinister, maga W H?
