We must not allow ourselves to be terrorized. We must march peacefully but forcefully and in numbers that the fascist Trump administration could never imagine.

You know that "fascists" are socialists, right? Did that still describe Trump, one of the premier capitalists of our time?

MoCoRsxTm, methinks you have no understanding of what constitutes fascism, socialism, capitalism or what makes Trump, Trump. Maybe check the dictionary before posting?

Fascism is not socialism. It is as far RIGHT as you can go on the political and ideological spectrum. Communism is its opposite.

Having known Melissa for a number of years, I’m deeply saddened that a religious nutcase, owner of a global security company has become an assassin for the transnational criminal syndicate of Thiel, Vance, Trump, Putin, Dugin, Xi et al.

I protested loudly against this criminal cabal that posses as our republic! Melissa I believe would have it no other way, but to honor her work!!

As a Minnesotan, I’ll be damned if some fascist is going to use their favorite tool called “violence” to prevent me from using my first amendment right. Yes! My family and I were at our State Capitol for the “No Kings” Rally

Older and disabled people please consider, if you can’t run away easily. If things go bad, everyone in the crowd needs to be able to move quickly. I decided against protesting in a big city for just that reason. I’d need help if we had to run, and I cannot potentially endanger other people. My site was Anoka, and that is cancelled. I believe we should follow what is being asked of us. Our governor is the one asking, and I trust him.

We went anyway as did thousands of others, and we honored the memory of those killed today. As a single voice, Minnesotans pledged to continue show up and protest. No Kings!!!

Hmmmm....perhaps it will prove constructive to collect the evidence before one gets carried away with Who Shot John this time around.

Latest reporting suggests Vance Boelter is the suspect, a 57 year old who was first appointed to the Workforce Labor Board by governor Mark Dayton in 2016, and again by Tim Walz in 2019. He served until 2023, and has not been involved in government since. He left a manifesto but the part of the manifesto which talks about motivation has not been released -- only that it contained a long list of high profile dems he wanted to assassinate. Not sure what your point is -- political violence is political violence. The fact that it's a disaffected dem as opposed to hard core MAGA is part of what will be parsed as more comes out -- but it doesn't change the equation for protesters. Or does your theory go somewhere else?

Go to the protest. There is strength in numbers and if an extremely high profile fugitive is foolish enough to try to attack the protesters it will definitely not end well for him.

We went to the capitol. It was 100% peaceful. Good crowds. There were many other scheduled protests in the Twin Cities today. I am anxious to hear how they went, but I suspect the crowds were down in the NW suburbs.

16 total scheduled in twin Cities metro area. They got the gunman.

I do not know what Minnesotans will decide, whether to remain home, or continue with the protests. This is their decision, and the choice will be costly, regardless.

Eyes and ears open, people; be safe, whatever you decide.

Minnesota is showing up. Big crowd at the Capitol, but I can't post a picture.

Please keep your thoughts with Minnesota today as you protest. Be safe, and remember there no Kings.

I’m glad people chose to go. I’m in a wheelchair and opted to stay home. I just couldn’t get away fast enough if trouble erupted.

I had to give you a follow just because of your name. I had a good friend, who has since passed, who was mostly a quad. Limited use of one hand. We went to a Willie Nelson concert once, and God forbid you got in his way. I get why you stayed home though. Thanks for the support.

From here in England, ful respect to my cousin and his partner in Minneapolis who protested and full sympathy to those who chose not to. There will be more opportunities to show your disaproval of your felon of a president. Good luck to us all, we are living on the brink of the apocolypse.

I truly can't believe Trump is sorry. He's been encouraging this kind of action for years. 2 less Democrats, right? (Maybe 4). And doing this on the eve of No Kings day is too much of a coincidence. Kind of apprepo that the assassin was dressed like a cop as we are seeing some police, and soldiers going along with the corrupt company's line. A good word for the police who tried to follow up on the suspicion of a political hate crime. It's too bad they were too late. Condolences to the families.

You are a person with a deep understanding of people and what they are feeling. I appreciate your intelligence and power of reasoning. Thank you.

I know if I were confronted with this same dilemma I would protest, but that is me. Anyone who would not go has that right and in a democracy we are entitled to make choices according to what we are feeling if it is lawful.

We have the right to decide what is best for us individually.
