Yes, those are good points. I wonder just how vulnerable Musk really is to financial manipulation--pulling contracts etc. Re the other stuff -- DOJ investigations, drugs, Trump can for sure go after him but what I see is Trump trying to de-escalate. If he were really confident he holds the best cards, I don't know if he would do that. Maybe. Maybe he woudl go underground and just silently have doj go after Musk. Popcorn, please.

Or, as Jim Ludes points out, the two of them are distracting media (and us) from the important issue right now: that bill.

All this is true, but Musk is vulnerable with DOJ investigations that they themselves buried on Musk’s behalf. And there are plenty of corrupt actions they could pursue. And Musk is definitely on drugs which is a legitimate reason to yank his security clearances.

Additionally, I don’t think anyone is under the impression that the DOJ and FBI are anything less than Trump’s personal gestapo at this point, so they can make trouble for Musk and his companies.

Moreover, it’s not just Trump Musk is fighting. Not only does Trump possess all levers of power, but if Trump loses, so do all his power brokers like The Heritage Foundation, The Federalist Society and the Family Research Council. Not to mention, some of his billionaire backers. So they have a lot to lose as well. IMHO…:)

Is there any chance that during his deep trawl through US government records Musk actually got his hands on the Epstein files?

Further, if Trump thinks that there is the remotest chance that Musk does have a copy, and that Musk has hinted that he does, that leaves Trump substantially exposed.

Musk could bring Trump down.

Trump involvement with Epstein has been known for a while. Musk is not producing anything new here. He might be amplifying what circulated for a while outside of main streem media.

It's either a theatre or there was in fact q "disagreement" between the two and Musk show a bit of his teeth.

Regardless, both Musk and Trump are useful parts of building russian terrorist state's friendly dictatorship in the US. One way or another, they both serve the kremlin.

Musk is trying to "ruin" trump. He's openly called for impeachment, he's outed trump with the Epstein files, damned the beautiful big bill and savagely attacked trump's character. Something for everyone to chew on and none of it good for trump. A disaster, in fact.

Ulterior motives are yet to emerge. Musk is clearly unhappy about losing his influence, having been supplanted by other malign manipulators with their own ugly agendas. But, maybe it's not entirely personal. Perhaps Musk, and his cabal, have deemed that "their" interests would better served by publicly destroying trump while bolstering the idea of 'President JD Vance.' This would certainly please Vought, Thiel, JD and the other scumbags waiting in the wings for trump to crash so they can get busy implementing their own horrific vision of America. Will Musk's feud lead to the end of trump?

So russian terrorist state's agent Musk turns on russian terrorist state's asset Trump?

There are different factions within the White House that's for sure.

However, let's not forget Musk and Thiel forced Vance on Trump.

According to some, Vance was installed in the White House to takeover after Trump once he couses enough chaos to be deposed of.

So either this so called "raw" between the two is another bit of a political theatre or the tech bros decided "it is the time".

The tech bros want American dictatorship for themselves, Trump wants it for himself and his family. There will be tensions and "disagreements" for sure.

Regardless, it all works for putin who wanted the destruction of American democracy and russian terrorist state's friendly dictatorship in the US. russian terrorist state's political warfare is about to achieve its goals.

The Trump-Musk spat has certainly caught everyone's attention, mine included. After the first round, is Trump's coolness a retreat or a tactical withdrawal in prep for the next round? Maybe Trump has met his match as Michael suggests, but that doesn't mean this is over (as others have suggested in their comments).

A few reactions. First, as to Musk's security clearance, Trump should curtail Musk's to the minimum necessary to fulfill his contracts. Second, he should keep very close watch on Musk's dealings with foreign countries to preclude satellite and other vital technologies being shared without US approval (hopefully those safeguards are already in place). Third, my take is that narcissistic injury was the primary driving force, stemming from perceived ingratitude on both sides.

Ironically, though these antagonists wish us to believe great minds are at work, it took 2 seconds for this shameful outburst to devolve into name- calling.

I don't understand Musk's endgame but i believe that it never really included Trump. Trump has been a stepping stone. It will be interesting to see how it plays out. The Republicans in Congress are caught in the wringer. Right now they will support Trump. But if Musk really spends the dollars to unseat them.... they will scurry like cockroaches when the lights are turned on.

I just hope they don't take the country down with them.

As much as I'd love to see them destroy each other Musk seems to be backing down. Musk has endless wealth but can't really spend it all, he's either got to borrow against shares or sell them and drive their value down. Loose the government conracts and the value of those shares dive along with his wealth. Just maybe he goes in the negative, I wish. Trump has law enforcement, an army he seems willing to use against citizens (is Musk a citizen, I think so) and courts that he's got some control over.

I'd put my money on Trump in the fight and Musk detoxing and wondering what's he's done. On the flip side one trusts Trump will be replaced in 3 1/2 years and have his own new pile of days in court. Musk can also outlive him if the drugs haven't done too much damage.

And how might we look at bullies, beyond the name-calling and ego- massaging reflections in the Achilles pool: perhaps I would suggest, despite their more surficially obvious public capabilities, as quite undeveloped adult adolescents whose self-indulgences are but reflections of their personal “mirror, mirror on the wall…”

Leadership of others, in effect the “public trust,” asks us to grow up, or to let go responsibilities for others. We are simply too self-involved! There is either something very important to one with other responsibilities outside of self-indulgent behaviors, or not. We can see not! Such self-indulgence suggests that when “push comes to shove,” not marks the man!
