And lest we forget, Charlie Manson said that Stranger in a Strange Land was inspiration for his "family". Not sure how this relates to Musk, but it seems relevant.
It's been years since I read the book, but as I remember... Mike Smith was also using the power of Grok to make objects and people to disappear. He didn't know where they went and didn't really care. (As Elon and DOGE goes through the US government information and personnel... then makes it all disappear. Hmm)
Great summary, entirely credible, and key to balding insecure dweeb like Musk that want to be Valentine Michael Smith & have his harem & adulation, playboy 3000, orgies & all, genius & irresistible to All.
As mid 50’s child, I grew up with Heinlein & all the Golden Age Sci-fi Masters of the 1930’s through the 1970’s. Heinlein’s view of the future was tempered by Ursula K. Le Guin & others of less conservative points of view.
In the real world, Heinlein’s work in the 1930’s with analog fire control computers & naval gunfire ballistic solutions were key to WWII US naval gunfire excellence.
He had real influence in the highest levels of military and civilian government for 20 years - until he campaigned for sharing US nuclear technology with the UN.
I have to admit that sci-fi has always eluded me, so I have nothing on Heinlein. But I did grow up in and around Pittsburgh, which has the perfect slang for "useless male person": jagoff. It means exactly what you think it does, and it is the best one-word description for Elon Musk that the English language can provide.
I grok ya. LOL
