Epstein/Maxwell: The Meeting That Wasn’t, the Denial That Was, and the Transfer That Shouldn’t Be
The outlines of where this is going are now becoming clear
On Wednesday night, a quartet of Trump administration heavyweights—Vice President J.D. Vance, Attorney General Pam Bondi, Deputy AG Todd Blanche, and FBI Director Kash Patel—were reportedly set to convene for a private strategy dinner to address the explosive fallout from Ghislaine Maxwell’s DOJ interview. The plan, leaked earlier that day, included discussions of whether to release Blanche’s nine-hour transcript with Maxwell—an interview already drawing scrutiny because Blanche previously served as Donald Trump’s criminal defense attorney — and because having the Deputy AG rather than line prosecutor do such an interview was highly unusual.
But then… silence. Denials. Retractions. And finally, a synchronized messaging blitz: “There was no meeting.” “Fake news.” “Pure fiction.”
It seems reasonably clear that such a meeting was in fact planned. Reuters is reporting that it was canceled after news of it leaked. Fox News says it happened but wasn’t all about Maxwell. Did the meeting happen electronically instead? Did it happen at all? We don’t know. But the outlines of where this is headed are becoming more clear.
1. Maxwell’s Convenient Memory: “Trump Never Did Anything Inappropriate”
According to multiple reports, Ghislaine Maxwell told Blanche during her DOJ interview that she “never saw Donald Trump do anything inappropriate.” That line—almost surgically tailored to match Trump’s own self-defense—has been widely circulated by MAGA influencers and Fox News talking heads as if it were gospel. The problem is this: Maxwell said exactly the same thing about Jeffrey Epstein in her sworn deposition in 2016. Or specificaly, of Epstein she said she had: “never seen Jeffrey act inappropriately with underage girls”—a claim that later became the basis for perjury charges when victims testified otherwise.
So the question is: why is a known perjurer being given a platform, with the U.S. Department of Justice as her microphone, to offer exculpatory statements about the sitting President?
2. The Transfer That Defies Federal Prison Policy
Then there is the matter of Ghislaine Maxwell—convicted child sex trafficker—being transferred to a minimum-security “Club Fed” federal prison camp in Bryan, Texas.
I think this flew a little bit under the radar because most people, including most journalists, don’t understand how wildly against policy this was. Putting a child sex trafficker into a minimum security camp simply does not happen. And a camp is vastly different — she won’t be in a cell; she will have freedom of movement throughout the day; life will be much, much more manageable.
In the Bureau of Prisons (BOP), camp placement is 100%, no exceptions (until now), off-limits to anyone convicted of crimes involving child sexual abuse or exploitation. Full stop. No exceptions. Even a low-level offender convicted for clicking on illicit content—without producing or distributing it—is deemed ineligible for camp assignment. For Maxwell, who participlated in the physical trafficking of large numbers of underage girls, to get moved to a camp is clearly a very, very, very big “thank you” for something, and that something is almost certainly telling Blanche she never saw Donald Trump do anything inappropriate.
There has been no official explanation. No legal rationale. No policy exemption. Just a quiet transfer that undermines the most basic standards of justice and public safety.
3. What It All Adds Up To
Let’s connect the dots.
A planned strategy session between Trump’s closest legal and political advisors is abruptly canceled—or goes underground—after the press catches wind of it.
Maxwell gives a legally convenient statement exonerating Trump during a DOJ interview conducted by his former lawyer.
And days later, she’s quietly transferred to a prison camp—a move that flouts long-standing BOP policy for child sex offenders.
And now there are reports that the Trump administration is considering releasing the transcript of Blanche’s interview with Maxwell.
The word that comes to mind is “choreographed.”
Maxwell, it seems almost certain at this point, has give a politically helpful statement to Blanche that will help Trump; likely hurt no republicans even if released in full; and will contain information damaging to Trump’s enemies. Maxwell, having done her part to create a record that suits Trump, has already received a very meaningful preliminary reward.
If this were happening in a foreign country, we’d immediately recognize it as state interference in the criminal justice system to protect powerful men.
But here, in 2025, it’s just ….Thursday.
Thank you Michael. Where is today’s John Dean in all this? Someone on the inside needs to come forward and say Enough is enough! There are certainly many courageous men and women left in the DOJ who believe in the rule of law and our Constitution. I hope we’ll hear more from them one way or another!
There are no rules of law for the wealthy elites, or the privileged… only death camps for brown or black skinned persons, struggling to survive the gross injustice of Merikkka! Thanks for sharing your well crafted thoughts on the travesty we’re experiencing in the epoch Michael!
