The photo is atypical of death by hanging and consistent with strangulation - but "it's complicated" by custodial setting. More investigation is warranted.
Thank you for such a thorough investigation. My main concern is why such a high profile prisoner would not be more closely monitored. I find it highly unlikely that both guards were asleep during this time. I personally would like to know what type of disciplinary action was taken Against the guards who were sleeping on duty. If none was taken, I find that highly questionable too.
The guards could have easily been slipped a sleeping pill - remember, drumpf was president at the time and could have ordered this - as he had the AG at the time. Remember, they put Michael Cohen in solitary confinement for practicing his first amendment rights!
Couldn’t the forensics sign have occurred as a result of both homicide and hanging. If he was murdered, then someone took the time to place him on his knees with the bedsheet looking like a hanging. If he hung there for hours, the marks that look like a hanging behind the neck could have developed after he died. The fractures are super important, especially at a lower height with less gravitational force during a hanging. Very interesting!
The multiple linear lacerations from the strangulating ligature also doesn’t square with a noose. A bed sheet twisted up into a rope is wider. A cord is narrow. And if there is a fight, you can see multiple marks as you do better in the second facial photo. His ear is engorged and also looks lacerated? but the rest of his face is slightly violaceous but not very much. Looks like he was killed quickly.
Anecdotal share: I’m retired from healthcare-at the time of Epsteins death, a patient of mine, a CA max security prison manager, freely shared, “ Epstein was no suicide !” He shared inside intel that too many circumstances/details pointed out loud and clear- murder. He proceeded to debunk any argument for Epstein suicide route- no guards, cameras clean, no cellmate, and asked me.’ how did he cut those bedsheets for a noose?’ He recalled the news had circulated “suicide watch on Epstein a few weeks before the event.- classic framework! He then shared that the sheets would have been out of the cell, and any other dangerous material for suicide watch! Very difficult to do.” He shared death by hanging in prison is not that common, and sheets being soft often fail for a clean hanging. I remember that convo vividly as tongues were wagging then about the whole episode. To this day I believe my patient was telling the truth. Today with all the blowup maybe the truth will prevail in this saga and all the karma will bat at last!
I think the lividity, placement and lack of, has to be considered along with the ligature marks and other injuries to the neck and head. That might give more weight to one conclusion. Coco brings up some other good points.
I’m not qualified to interpret what the lividity evidence means, however I feel it’s to important to include with the neck & head evidence to understand what happened.
“In other words, the photo contains evidence that supports both sides of the debate. It’s neither an open-and-shut case of suicide, nor does it scream definitive homicide. What it does show—clearly—is that this death involved atypical forensic features, and the official explanation deserves more scrutiny than it’s been given.”
I’m not big on conspiracies either, but if there ever was a case in which the defendant was better off dead for the powerful elite in society, then this murder/suicide case is definitely it.
That said, great analysis Michael. Quick question though? If this was a murder, wouldn’t you reckon that the killers would have been professionals, and would have tried to make it look like a suicide; which would undoubtedly look somewhat like this scene? And I say killers because if it was a professional job, you’d need at least two people to pull it off without leaving clues.
Furthermore, when you consider that the video released to the public is missing at least a minute, and both guards were asleep, it doesn’t take a genius to realize that something is amiss.
Bottom line, I really don’t care about this issue; however, it says a lot about the state of our Union when The Epstein File is the only issue that could possibly tear MAGA apart and help end Trump’s presidency.
Think about it? We have masked gunmen in unmarked cars arresting immigrants, judges, politicians, and US citizens with impunity, and all we hear from the MSM and society are crickets; unless you’re MAGA, then it’s a loud thunderous roar and tears of joy.
We have DOGE and Heritage that have taken a sledgehammer to our institutions, including Crown Jewels like the NIH and CDC, and all we hear are crickets. We even might lose constitutional guarantees like Birthright citizenship and all we hear are crickets!
Yet, ironically, Trump refuses to release the dirt on Epstein and his coterie of sadistic and immoral fellow travelers, and suddenly these people are ready for a Civil War? Seriously, it’s the Epstein File that is the bridge too far? Good times!…:)
One thought I have is that if only one minute is missing from the video, that's not really enough time to enter, do the deed, fix the scene to look like suicide, and leave. But it's unclear to me if that missing minute is the only missing element in thevideo, since it appears to have been edited even though they say it's raw footage, unedited.
It’s incredibly easy to cut one section of a video frame out and replace it with a static element while leaving the motion element (in this case the clock) intact. It’s one of the most-basic compositing tricks in the book, and absolutely a function Adobe Premiere is capable of.
Exactly. The video must have been edited and the clock reset. Even if he committed suicide he would have needed more than 2 minutes to tear strips of the bedsheet, tie it around his neck, tie it to the bedpost, and position his body in the way to maximize gravity. Then the video would have also shown him struggling for breath for some time. The “missing” moments make zero sense.
True, however, what if Epstein was sedated before he went to bed? Perhaps something in his dinner; puts him in a solid dream state so the killers could enter and leave quickly and easily, without making noise….:)
In a hanging it could signify a knot on the sheet or in a homicide it could signify where knuckles get involved. So it doesn’t point definitively in one direction or another.
Did you notice the bruising, along the clavicles? On his left shoulder, anterior area, there appears to be an older looking bruise, roughly fist shaped, but atop the clavicles there appear to be newer bruising consistent with holding someone forcefully in position.
In addition, I'd also like to point out there appear to be 2 separate marks, the horizontal mark ends, the second mark has the upward angling and fading.
I'd also like to point out that there are two individual ligature marks, there's a break in the heavier mark, then the secondary mark leads upwards and fades.

"So what does that tell us?" That--like all other conspiracy theories (if you want to call the assassinations of JFK, RFK and Martin Luther King "conspiracies," we will never know--for sure--what happened. Too many coincidences in all four deaths are what give rise to people not trusting government (coverups). Thank you for your investigation.
If someone were applying a garotte from behind that did not wrap around the neck, there is no reason to assume that you wouldn't have a ligature mark all the way around. Have you never seen an Italian Giallo horror film? They are pulling across the front of the neck from both sides with pressure from the hands, which are not touching but are pulling from a width apart.
I'm surprised I even have to mention how I have commonly seen a garotte used in the movies. Torn bedsheets? Leaving a ligature mark this deep, that looks as if it has dug deeply into the neck, almost cutting into it?
Give me a real break, especially considering your professed "experience" with forensic analysis that doesn't even mention obvious signs that this was very, very likely *not* a suicide.
The semicircle around his neck could've been a result of someone using a garrote and then putting their knee in his back to break the cartilage and the bone. The way his body was found with the sheet around his neck doesn't seem to indicate it would've broken the cartridge and those bones. It would've only closed off his windpipe so he couldn't breathe.
Agree, but I'm thinking a long pull. Foot on shoulder or back of the head, less likely to leave the circular marks. And would explain all the extra turn sheets.
Unless he did some kind of weird dive off the top bunk while holding his legs up. I don't see a simple lean hanging, like he was found, breaking bone.
This clearly looks like strangulation. If his assailant had him down on the ground, knee against the base of his neck with a cord getting pulled from behind you would have an incomplete ring but still horizontal and you would probably be less likely to have the facial engorgement which happens with hanging (especially if “left for several hours to be - oops - discovered “) because the noose cuts off jugular venous drainage, triggering the engorged purple face/mouth/tongue effect. He doesn’t have any of that. Just minor petechiae of the face. I saw these photos and thought, No way, this was homicide.

oh you have more faith in guards than warranted. people are naturally sleepy at that time...

There was lack of lividity in the lower extremities according to Mark Epstein in his interview earlier today with Jim Acosta.
Thanks, I saw that.

Looking forward to fracture analysis confirming the obvious
Epstein didn't kill himself.

Nice deep dive into this. Well, I’ll just jump out on a limb here and call it what I’ve always thought. It was hit. Thanks for the analysis.
